Please Help Champaign County Regional Planning Commission reduce Traffic Crash Injuries and Fatalities
July 23rd, 2025 @ 2:35pm
Fifteen people have lost their lives in Champaign County traffic crashes since the beginning of 2025, with no clear pattern to guide Champaign County in achieving a goal of having zero traffic crash fatalities. As part of a Safe Streets for All (SS4A) grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), the RPC has set up an interactive comments map and a short survey for residents to access online:
https://ccrpc.gitlab.io/ss4a-urban/
RPC staff is eager to hear from residents about their travel safety concerns. Whether it’s pinpointing a dangerous intersection, a road that needs a bike lane, or a place that isn’t accessible for people with mobility challenges, anything related to walking, bicycling, using buses, riding in vehicles, or how those modes interact is deemed important.
For residents who prefer not to offer their thoughts online, RPC staff is always available to take input in person, by email, regular mail, or phone. The survey and interactive map will be available through the end of August. Thank you in advance for your time and cooperation!
Sincerely,
